They were selected by their teachers and each received a $500 check.
Brenda Vaught Smith, representing the 40 Year Club, made the presentation
during the MHS Honors Assembly in May, 2010.
2011 Good Citizen recipients are Rachel
Collins and Julian Parnell. Congratulations!
These awards are funded by dues and reunion

CLASS ACTIVITIES REUNION WEEKEND
2011
Each class is encouraged to plan an individual
"mini reunion" for its members for the Friday or Saturday evening of reunion
weekend - maybe even a Sunday breakfast. Make this an MHS
"nostalgia weekend!"
From John Philpot: The Mena High School
Class of 1953 is inviting attendees of the 40 Year Club Reunion to drop by
for a visit, a cookie and a cup of coffee. The '53 class has rented
the Community Room at the Mena Housing Authority on Morrow Ave. across from
the post office for all day Saturday, May 28. Folks will be coming and
going from 9 a.m. to noon and from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Sounds like a good time!!!
John Philpot is bringing the last 100
copies of his book, John Philpot,
Storyteller, to the 40-Year Club Reunion. For anyone wanting to
purchase a copy, the cost is $25.00 each. It is filled with names and
places around Mena which most of you will recognize easily.
Those of us who already own John
Philpot, Storyteller will tell you it is hilarious and a delightful
read. It is composed of humorous stories from John's life. For the most
part, they're all true. That makes them his best.
CLASS OF 1959 - Will be having a hamburger cookout
at the home of Joan and Gayle Ford at 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 28. It's
"potluck" for the side dishes. A classmate is providing the hamburger
(Thanks so much to Judy and Charles Campbell!). The Fords live at 113
Grand Lane.
Need a place to stay while
you are attending reunion? Give Mena Mountain Top Resort a
call, 479-394-1771. Website is
